Harlem High School’s D.E.C.A organization held a business conference to talk to students about business on May, 3 in the auditorium. Successful business entrepreneurs came and spoke about their experiences and what to expect in the real world.  The speakers explained that everyone needs a plan for life after high school. They also said that success comes from taking risks and having confidence. Taylor P., sophomore said, “I really liked the speakers because I learned a lot. I learned I need a plan and I need to take risks.”

The atmosphere of the room was friendly and filled with students eager to learn.  Aubrey D., sophomore, said “I wanted to go the conference because D.E.C.A seems like the kind of program that could really benefit our school and the students.” The conference was a great experience for students to learn business and career tips from successful people. Dan Seidman, world class speaker/businessman said, “The biggest thing I wanted students to get out of this conference was that they can learn the most from other people’s words and experiences.”

D.E.C.A is a program at Harlem, which teaches students to be leaders by going to competitions and other events. D.E.C.A unfortunately did not get to do as many events as they have in the past, the conference was a great come back for the program. The business conference held by D.E.C.A was a learning opportunity for the students who went.
